Schengen visa for EU/EEA

Family Members (spouses, children under the age of 18 and dependent ascendants) of EU / EEA / Swiss citizens who are exercising their right to free movement are covered under Directive 2004/38/EC. For these applicants, the Visa Procedure is slightly different.

In order to qualify for this procedure, the applicant must either accompany or join the EU / EEA / Swiss citizen, and the EU / EEA / Swiss citizen must be exercising their right to free movement.

Example 1: An applicant who is married to a Norwegian citizen who is accompanying or joining the spouse in Norway is not covered by this Directive.

Example 2: An applicant who is married to a Norwegian Citizen residing in France who is joining the spouse in France is covered by this Directive.

Applicants that are covered by this Directive will get priority and will not be charged a fee (the fee paid on the Application Portal will be refunded electronically when the applicant submits proof that he / she is covered by the Directive).

Documents that must be submitted with the application:

Applications must be registered on the Application Portal and supporting documents submitted at the Embassy at the applicant’s booked appointment time.

Documents that should be submitted with the application are:

One passport size picture with white background and not older than 6 months (please attach photo on the Cover Letter using adhesive tape or glue, not staples). The Cover Letter may be printed from the Application Portal after finishing the payment and booking. It is also sent to the registered e-mail address after completing the booking.

Original passport (valid for at least 3 months after departure from Schengen)

Proof of Relationship with the EU / EEA / Swiss Citizen

E.G. Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate (showing both parent’s names), etc.

Proof that the applicant joins or accompanies an EU / EEA / Swiss Citizen

Notification of decision

When the Applicant submit their application, his/her passport is kept by The Visa section. Applicant will be given a receipt which mentions the day and time applicant can pick up his/her passport.

Approved applications

If your have been granted a visa, the visa sticker will be affixed into your passport with the travel date mentioned at your interview. Otherwise your rejection letter will be attached to your passport

If your visa case is sent to UDI, the Directorate of Immigration will make the decision and notify the Embassy. As soon as the answer received the applicant will be notified by phone or email.

Denied applications

The rejection letter attached to his/her passport. Applicants that have been denied a permit may either re-apply or lodge an appeal.
The appeal may be lodged by the applicant himself / herself or by a person with ‘Power of Attorney’.

Application fee

Be aware that visa fee is not refundable if the visa is refused.

زمانیکه متقاضی درخواست خود را در سفارت ثبت میکند پاسپورت او به همراه پرونده در قسمت ویزا نگه داشته میشود. در قبال آن متقاضی رسیدی دریافت میکند که در آن تاریخ دریافت پاسپورت نوشته شده است. 

پرونده هایی که با درخواست ویزای آن موافقت شده : اگر با درخواست ویزای شما موافقت شود، ویزا بر اساس تاریخ توافق شده در زمان مصاحبه صادر شده و در پاسپورت میباشد. درصورتیکه پرونده شما برای تصمیم گیری به اداره مهاجرت در نروژ فرستاده شده، این سفارت به محض دریافت نتیجه، با متقاضی تماس میگیرد و یا اینکه ایمیل میفرستد. 

پرونده هایی که با درخواست ویزای آن موافقت نشده است : علت جواب منفی ضمیمه پاسپورت است. متقاضی میتواند دوباره درخواست ویزا کند. متقاضی و یا شخصی که از او وکالت دارد میتواند درخواست تجدیدنظر کند. 

هزینه ویزا

توجه داشته باشید، درصورتیکه جواب شما منفی شود هزینه ویزا مسترد نخواهد شد.

هیچ هزینه ای برای درخواست تجدید نظر گرفته نمیشود.

Any stay in Norway that is longer than 90 days requires a residence permit. If you plan to study, work or live with family in Norway you need a residence permit, and not a Schengen visa. There are various types of applications for residence permits. Applicants must fill out the form for the suitable permit online through our Application portal, and book an appointment. When this is done the applicant will submit the application at the embassy, in person.

All applicants who apply for any kind of residence permit must answer UDI’s check list and questionaries, print it and submitt at their time of interview.

  • The original of translation must be legalised by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
  • A4 format copy of each of the documents and with no staples and pins.

If you are not an Iranian citizen, you must have a valid residence permit in Iran (minimum six months) in order to apply from the Norwegian Embassy in Tehran. A visitor’s visa to Iran is not sufficient in order to launch an application for residence permit. Afghan nationals living in Afghanistan must contact the Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad, Iraqi nationals living in Iraq must contact the Norwegian Embassy in Amman.

Applicants must show their passport and all documents in their original form to the Embassy.

All translated documents must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran too.


کلیه متقاضیان هرنوع اقامت باید توجه داشته باشند که از سایت اداره مهاجرت سوالات و چک لیست مریوطه را  پرینت  کنند و به سوالات پاسخ دهند و در روز مصاحبه همراه بقیه مدارک به سفارت ارائه دهند.

  • تمامی مدارک باید بر روی برپه آ4 بوده و هیچگونه سوزن و منگنه نداشته باشد.
  • متقاضیان درخواست هرگونه اقامت باید مدارک خود به تائید وزارت امورخارجه برسانند

اگر شما تبعه ایران نمیباشید برای اینکه بتوانید درخواست اقامت خود را به سفارت نروژ در تهران ارایه دهید شما باید دارای اقامت معتبر ایران  حداقل برای مدت 6 ماه باشید تنها داشتن ویزای ایران برای درخواست اقامت کافی نمیباشد 

اگر شما تبعه  افغانستان هستید و در افغانستان زندگی میکنید باید درخواست اقامت خود را به سفارت نروژ در اسلام آباد و اگر تبعه عراق هستید و در عراق زندگی میکنید باید درخواست اقامت خود را به سفارت نروژ در امان در کشور اردن ارایه دهید

متقاضی باید اصل پاسپورت و سایر مدارک خود را زمان درخواست ویزا و یا اقامت همراه داشته باشد 

برای درخواست هر نوع اقامت کلیه مدارک ترجمه شده باید به تایید وزارت امور خارجه رسیده باشد

Applicants who fail to provide the necessary supporting documents, will kindly be asked to book a new appointment.

3. After you have submitted the online application, booked your appointment and provided all the supporting documents, we will be pleased to welcome you to the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Tehran to submit the necessary supporting documents, pay the fee and provide biometric data.

We would also like to bring your attention to the fact that all the abovementioned application types are included in our new electronic caseprocessing system. The processing time is expected to be somewhat shorter for electronic cases.
