Muhammad Yunus and Al Gore to conference in Norway

Muhammad Yunus and Al Gore will be among the speakers at the conference on corporate social responsibility in Oslo, which will be opened by Norway’s Foreign Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre on 28 March.

In addition to Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus and former US Vice President Al Gore, speakers at the Oslo Conference on Good Governance and Social and Environmental Responsibility will include: José Sergio Gabrielli de Azevedo, President and CEO of Petrobras; Achim Steiner, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme; Huguette Labelle, Chair of the Board, Transparency International; and John Ruggie, UN Special Representative for Business and Human Rights.

 

The conference, which is to be held in Oslo from 28 to 30 March, will foster discussion on various issues relating corporate social responsibility (CSR), including employee rights and human rights in relation to the business sector, climate issues and environmentally sound business development, anti-corruption efforts, and compliance with international CSR standards.

 

The conference has been organised by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment, the City of Oslo and several international organisations.

 

The conference will be opened at the Oslo City Hall on 28 March by Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre. For more information and details of the programme see the conference website.
