VISA

Do I need a Visa to go to Norway?

Yes.

How can I apply for a Visa?

If you want to apply for a Schengen visa to Norway, please make an online registry of your application and book appointment at the Application Portal Norway: https://selfservice.udi.no  After you have submitted the online application, booked your appointment and provided all the supporting documents, we will be pleased to welcome you to the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Tehran to submit the necessary supporting documents, pay the fee and provide biometric data. Normal waiting time for an appointment is less than 2 weeks. In high-season, however, the waiting time might be up to 3 or 4 weeks. If you need any assistance on how to register and book online, please check here (Eng - Farsi) .

When can I apply?

You can submit the application at the Embassy’s visa section for the following opening hours: Sunday-Wednesday: 09.00 – 12.00. Please note that a visa application should be lodged at least 15 calendar days before the intended visit. If an application is lodged less than 15 days before the intended departure, the Embassy may accept the application, however the applicant risks that the final decision on the application might be taken after the intended date of departure. A visa application cannot be lodged earlier than three months before the start of the intended visit.

How much is the processing fee?

The handling fee should be paid cash when handing in the application. Please note that in the event of a refusal, the fee will not be reimbursed. Please click here for updated fee information.

What documentation do I need to bring?

This depends on which type of permit you apply for. Please choose the correct permit here and then you will see which supporting documents you must bring to the Embassy when handing in your application. The lists are available in both English and Farsi.

How long will it take to process the application?

As a general rule, decision-making will be made within 15 days after the application has been considered admissible. In cases where further scrutiny is necessary, the deadline may be extended up to 30 days. Please note that for several of the visa cases handled by this Embassy, experience shows that further scrutiny is needed. As the visa officers receiving the application may not inform you about the expected processing time in individual visa cases, you should therefore plan for a possible 30 day case processing time.

If I’m inviting family/friends from Iran to visit me in Norway, can I as the reference in Norway call and get the result?

No. According to Norwegian Law only the applicant can get the result of the application and information about the application. A written letter of authorisation from the applicant is needed for the reference to get information directly from the Embassy.

If rejected, can I appeal?

You have the right to appeal within 3 weeks after receipt of the decision, cf § 27 of the Public Administration Act. In order to appeal, you or a person you have given power of attorney, must send the appeal letter with additional documentation in one piece to the Embassy. The appeal letter is to be written in English or Norwegian and signed by the applicant or the person given power of attorney.
