How can I apply ?
We are pleased to announce that you may now make an online application and book appointment if you want to apply for familyimmigration. Please register your online application and book appointment at the Application Portal Norway: https://selfservice.udi.no After you have submitted the online application, booked your appointment and provided all the supporting documents, we will be pleased to welcome you to the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Tehran to submit the necessary supporting documents, pay the fee and provide biometric data. The Embassy requires personal appearance when submitting the application.
When can I apply ?
You can submit your visa application at the Embassy visa section for the following opening hours:
Sunday-Wednesday: 09.00-12.00
When can I call the visa reception?
You can call the visa reception during the following phone hours:

How much is the case processing fee?
The handling fee is 5.000.000 IRR.
The handling fee should be paid cash when submitting the application.
The fee must be paid both by persons applying for a first-time work permit/residence permit, and for those applying for a renewal of such permit.
The fee must be paid in cash to the Embassy. It is not refundable even though the application should be rejected.
Which supporting documents must be handed in with familyimmigration application?
Please read this list of supporting documents from the UDI. Make sure you have all necessary documents listed. In addition to the documents listed there, you must bring:
- Two passport photos colour 3 X 4 facing front. Must not be retouched/Bedoone rootoosh!
- One set of application forms filled out with block letters
- The original ID card (Shenasname) must be translated to English and verified by the Foreign Ministry in Tehran. The Embassy also needs to see the original translation.
- The original Marriage certificate must be translated to English and verified by the Foreign Ministry in Tehran. The Embassy also needs to see the original translation.
- Reference’s residence permit in Norway
- If the parties have been divorced, the original divorce certificate for both parties must be translated to English and verified by the Foreign Ministry in Tehran. The Embassy also needs to see the original translation.
Please note that applications for familyimmigration is part of our current eCase project. Hence, we would kindly ask you for the following additional documentation:
You must bring one extra copy of the entire application.
The copy must have all pages in A4, no staples, no stickers, no torn pages.
If you do not bring this required extra copy, we will not take your application.
An important purpose of the eCase project is to shorten the caseprocessing time.
Please note that all applicants, irrespective of online registration and booked appointments, must provide full supporting documents for their applications. Applicants who fail to provide the necessary supporting documents, will kindly be asked to book a new appointment.
D-visa
The following documents are needed for a D-visa, residence/work permits to be issued:
- Original passport valid for at least one year
- One 3*4 colour picture with white background facing front.
- Original one way ticket plus one copy
- receipt of the money paid before
- For non Iranian applicants, a valid Iranian visa issued in their passport showing they’ve entered Iran legally.
- It is acceptable that the following documents are not submitted to the embassy by the passport holder except for Non Iranians (they should come in person).
All the documents should be submitted with an English or Norwegian translation. Please note that the Embassy has the right to ask for any additional documents, any originals or any additional translations.
When the passport is to be picked up from the embassy, either the passport holder should come in person, or the person who is coming to pick up the documents should have the passport holder’s birth certificate (Shenasnameh) with the receipt.
What is the case processing time?
Please note that this application is handled by the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration. Please contact the UDI for information regarding case processing time www.udi.no
Afghan citizens and Iraqi citizens:
Afghan and Iraqi citizens can only apply at the Embassy if they can document that they have legal residence in Iran. They have to deliver 2 sets of the documents required. The Embassy will perform an interview with every applicant.
As of 1 June 2007 new rules for entering into marriage outside of Norway came into force. According to the new rules a marriage entered into outside of Norway will not be valid in Norway if a) it was entered into without both parties being present b) one of the parties was under 18 years of age at the time of marriage and c) one of the parties was already legally married.
